Understanding Marketing For Startups - 103

Six-Week Class
Monday Nights 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM
Starts September 30, 2019 and runs through November 11, 2019

This annual course offered by Flywheel is part of the “Understanding Lean….” series for startups. This module helps entrepreneurs understand how to solve the toughest problem startups face – how to find customers, retain customers and build a brand experience that drives loyalty and referrals.

The class is designed to help active startups and curious entrepreneurs apply lessons taught by marketing professionals to their own businesses and projects. The class will cover the basic ingredients of customer discovery, customer segmentation, building a marketing strategy, and implementing through the best and most cost-effective channels to reach the customer.

The class will use the latest marketing frameworks. Lean marketing is an approach that has its roots in the lean startup methodology pioneered by Alexander Osterwalder, Eric Reis, Steve Blank, and others. Lean marketing is evolving but emphasizes customer focus, testing, and cost-effective resources. Lean marketing will provide context for the course.

Another framework that will be used is inbound marketing framework pioneered by HubSpot and adopted by almost all startups today. Inbound methodology primarily emphasizes digital marketing though the course will include other techniques such as conferences, networking, etc. when it is a marketing technique that works for startups.

Understanding and keeping up with the latest marketing techniques is like drinking from a fire hose. Our goal is to take the mystery out of using marketing channels and available tools to grow your business through customer acquisition.

The real goal is that you leave this course feeling empowered, inspired, and confident – marketing is something that shouldn’t be scary, intimidating, or overwhelming; it should be that extra boost you need to get your startup into the world. This course is designed to show you some proven techniques to do that.
